Follow Friday & Blog Hop! (004)

Hey new followers!! So glad you've come to my page! :)
I'm not too new, but I haven't been able to work on my blog too much, but now I'm completely dedicated and focused! Expect more reviews, memes/features and eventually giveaways!

And please please follow my music & movie review blog called Twisted Symphony!!! I already have a review and a WoW post on there to look at! :)

Leave a comment and I'll follow you back!

When you write reviews, do you write them as you are reading or wait until you have read the entire book?

- A little of both! Sometimes I'll jot down notes about the book that I liked or didn't like to help with the review. I'll even write down a lot of quotes that I loved & try to narrow those down to 1 or 2.
If a book is really good I don't think too much about anything else and I just read read read!
I've learned that I'm a very fast reader if I'm comfortable, sitting up, and the book is very well written.

Tune Tuesday (005)

Welcome to the fifth Tune Tuesday. A feature I started right here at Camisado Mind!!
Tune Tuesday is a lot like "Music Monday" that was started....somewhere. But what I'll do is give you a topic and you'll give me ten songs that fit it.
It could be a "writing playlist", a "feel good playlist"....whatever. Sound good?
Okay, so this week's topic is:

Best "break-up" Songs!

These could be songs about a sad break-up, a happy one or songs about being better off without that person. Hey, even songs about missing the person you’ve broken up with. As long as they’re about a post break-up. (If anything is in another language, put an asterisk* next to it and tell us at the bottom what it translates to!)

Here’s my playlist:
in no particular order)
1. “Take Me Along” by Miley Cyrus - link
2. “All I Wanted” by Paramore - link
3. “Everything You’re Not” by Demi Lovato - link
4. “Solo” by Demi Lovato - link
5. “Over Me Now?” by Gloriana - link

Tune Tuesday (004)

Welcome to the fourth Tune Tuesday. A feature/meme started right here at Camisado Mind!

"Songs with long titles"
(This means four or more words in the title!)
  1. "There's A Good Reason These Tables Are Numbered Honey, You Just Haven't Thought Of It Yet" by Panic! At the Disco - link
  2. "Lying is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" by: Panic! At the Disco - link
  3. "Drilled a Wire Through My Cheek" by Blue October - link
  4. "Someday When I Stop Loving You" by: Carrie Underwood - link
  5. "I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You" by Colin Hay - link
  6. "I Wanna Make You Close Your Eyes" by Dierks Bentley - link
  7. "I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)" by Fall Out Boy - link
  8. "I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers" by Fall Out Boy - link
  9. "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" by John Mayer - link
  10. "Anthem for American Teenagers" by Jon McLaughlin - link
  11. "I Could Break Your Heart Any Day of the Week" by Mandy Moore - link
  12. "You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You" by Michael Bublé or Dean Martin - link(MB) link(DM)
Try to keep your list between ten (10) and twenty (20) songs! And if you'd like, make them a link to a youtube video so others can check out music if they've never heard of someone you have! Try to find the music video or a live performance. Of course the "album version" videos work perfectly too!

Leave a comment with your Tune Tuesday post! And if you have fun ideas, leave those too! (I'll credit you when I use it)

Meet Me on Monday (005)

Meet Me on Monday is hosted by Never Growing Old and it's a meme for bloggers to get to know each other one Monday at a time.

This Week's Questions:
1. Do you watch any Soap Operas?
I used to love the soap opera Passions on NBC. Soaps are ridiculous by nature, but this show took it to the next level. Unfortunately it's no longer on, so I don't watch any. And they were the best looking cast too. Sometimes in the middle of the day I find myself watching some, like Young & the Restless, General Hospital or Days of Our Lives.

2. What appliance is used the most in your house?
Definitely our washer and dryer. It's used every single day pretty much. And it seems there's a never ending pile of towels that need to be washed! I don't know how they're used so quickly.
We do have a dishwasher, but I personally don't like dishwashers. And since I'm the only one who does the dishes, it's never really used.
(I'd rather not attach a picture, the washer & dryer are being used as I type this...and our washer is the load front w/ window.)

3. Do you wear make-up every day?
No siree'bob. I love make-up, especially eye makeup. But if I'm going out and don't want to get "dolled" up, I'll just put mascara on. For some reason, if I'm wearing it alone it looks like I have my entire face done. So, if I were stranded on an island(with people around) the one make-up accessory I'd hope to have, would be mascara! Great Lash by Maybelline is my favorite!

4. What is your worst pet-peeve?
Oh boy, this is a hard one, I have so many. Saggy pants, bad grammar, cursing, using the words "retard" and "gay" as a way to describe something in a negative way, bad B.O......I can't think of just one, but...probably the biggest one is grammar and spelling--spelling things wrongly on purpose!!

5. What is your favorite lunch meat?
Turkey! But it has to be the Oscar Mayer in the thick round slices. I don't like thin cut turkey. It can be deli, but it has to be thick cut. I prefer oven roasted.

(P.S. Please vote for my book cover. It's the first one in the poll. The one with the girl looking at the sky. Click here to vote. Thank you!!)

Smitten on Saturday (001)

Smitten on Saturday is hosted by fellow blogger and friend, Amanda at Another Book Junkie. You find your favorite book to tv or movie character you're smitten with and talk about him/her. It doesn't have to be some hot hunk...just someone who's close to your heart!

This week I've chosen :

Noah Calhoun!!

He's from the book The Notebook by: Nicholas Sparks. And the movie adaptation of the same name....as if you didn't already know that!
It has been awhile since I've read the book, but there are parts I do remember.
I loved that Noah never wanted to give up on Allie, because he knew their love was real.
The movie is one of my favorite movies...ever. I watch it at lease once a week.
Both Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling did an amazing job in the movie, sometimes I still get choked up watching.

Fave quote from the movie: "Well, that's what we do, we fight. You tell me when I'm being an arrogant son of a bitch and I tell you when you're being a pain in the ass. Which you are. 99% of the time. I'm not afraid to hurt your feelings. You have, like a two second rebound rate and you're back doing the next pain in the ass thing."
"So, what?"
"So it's not going to be easy, it's going to be really hard. And we're gonna have to work at this every day. But I want to do that, 'cause I want you. I want all of you, forever...you and me...everyday."

And yes, that is from memory! The entire scene is in the youtube video here. But that actual line doesn't start until about 1:15 into the video.

Thursday 13 | Places to Visit (001)

Thursday Thirteen was started over at Bury the Castle by myself and bestie, Amanda (Another Book Junkie) who co-hosts the blog with me. In this feature, we're given a topic and we list thirteen things that fit in that topic.
This week's is "Places to Visit". I started the list on Bury the Castle, but the full list is here. To see Amanda's visit the post and/or her blog!

So, here is the list:
  1. Rome, Italy
  2. Athens, Greece
  3. Ashland, Oregon
  4. Canada
  5. Australia
  6. Los Angeles, California
  7. Houston, Texas
  8. New York, New York
  9. Miami, Florida
  10. Las Vegas, Nevada
  11. Tokyo, Japan
  12. Paris, France
  13. Honolulu, Hawaii
If you could go anywhere, what are the top 13 places you'd choose?
There are more I would put in here, but that defeats the purpose, doesn't it?

Tune Tuesday (003)

Boy, I am posting this super late, I know! Forgive me. It won't be this late next time!

"Songs with a color in the title!"

Here's my playlist:
(Because this isn't something that every one has, just post as many as possible, and if you go over ten...so be it:)

  1. "Out of the Blue" by: Aly & Aj - link
  2. "Blue Does" by: Blue October - link (not music video or live)
  3. "Blue Skies" by: Blue October - link
  4. "Blue Eyes" by: Cary Brothers - link
  5. "Violet Hill" by: Coldplay - link
  6. "Red" by: Daniel Merriweather - link
  7. "White America" by: Eminem - link
  8. "Yellow Brick Road" by: Eminem - link (not music video or live)
  9. "Old Blue Jeans" by: Hannah Montana (yes, Hannah Montana...deal) - link
  10. "Big Green Tractor" by: Jason Aldean - link
  11. "Black Keys" by: Jonas Brothers - link
  12. "Sweet Silver Lining" by: Kate Voegele - link
  13. "Blue Jeans" by: Keith Urban - link
  14. "White Liar" by: Miranda Lambert - link
  15. "Supermassive Black Hole" by: Muse - link
  16. "That Green Gentlemen (Things Have Changed)" by: Panic! at the Disco - link
  17. "White Horse" by: Taylor Swift - link
I had a lot more than I thought I would. I was tempted to put "Neon" by John Mayer, but that's not really a color...just a way to describe the vibrancy of a color...but here's an amazing live version here!

Leave a comment with the URL to your post in the Website URL spot!

Have an idea for future playlists, leave them in the comments or if you want to keep them secret, e-mail them to me. Using the contact form here.

Random Post, Saturday! (002)

I'm posting this hours later than I'd have liked to, but as you know from previous posts, today is National Dance Day, so yeah...I've been dancing. Dancing and cleaning!
Music is pretty much everything to me, so of course it's always on, and I am doing more than just singing along. :)
How is your Dance Day, aka D-Day, going? Moving & grooving?
I should give you an awesome dance playlist....but that's too much effort for right now.

I really don't have a topic for today, so what to talk about?
Well, for one, no one seems to care what they get in the giveaway I'll be doing soon. As shown by the lack of comments on this post. So, that means I'll just pick whatever book I feel like & give away if you want it, you'll enter, if not, you won't. Simple.

One thing I will talk about...my new blog:

I started this blog a few days ago. It's specifically for posting any songs I write, short stories(working on), and poetry...and anything else music related. You can learn more here, or click the tab that says Twisted Symphony at the top of the page.
Because I'm using a different kind of blogger template, you'll have to do something else to follow.

To follow you can click here or in the sidebar of the page click on: "»click to follow«"

As I am constantly saying, music means the world to me, so when/if I give away music (iTunes gift cards, CDS...etc) then I will there. So, you obviously have to follow.

I will keep the template I'm using for now and as I get more follows, I will switch to the newer one. As of now, you cannot leave comments, but you can click here to send me an e-mail or comment about the page.

That's all for today....
Have a great D-Day.
And comment about which book you would like to enter to win!!

What you can expect next week:
• Review of Devoured by Amanda Marrone
• Review of Rules of Attraction by Simone Elkeles
• A new playlist for Tune Tuesday - (maybe two).
• New buttons for you to find me on other sites.
• And of course all of the features & memes!

---

I may go on HIATUS the week after next to focus on some things I need to. And the computer & blogging isn't something that is of importance right now.
I will still be reading however, so there will be two or more reviews when I come back.
And I will probably do "double" posts for the meme's and features I did not participate in.

Booking Through Thursday (001)

Which fictional character (or group of characters) would you like to spend a day at the beach with? Why would he/she/they make good beach buddies?
Credit goes here.

This is kind of hard, I only just recently really got into reading, so I only have a hundred read books or so, and some of them, the characters I wouldn't care to be around.
But I did pick out a few

Jessica Darling and  Marcus Flutie from the Jessica Darling series by Megan McCafferty. Jessica and Marcus are probably the smartest yet laid back people I've ever come across in a book. Jessica is this crazy sarcastic chick...kind of like me (including the whole Atheist thing...no disagreements). And Marcus is super chill and kind of "out there"...again like me.
But it'd be kind of awkward right....I need a cutie.
Insert Alex Fuentes  from Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles. This is how I imagine him (and how he looks in the Rules of Attraction trailer). The "Alex" in the Perfect Chemistry trailer just isn't all that cute. (He's also in the Katy Perry "Hot 'n Cold" music video - here.)

Anyways....the Jessica Darling series is probably one of my top fave series I've read thus far.
The Perfect Chemistry one, is up there....but not necessarily my top fave.

Simone Elkeles' website: here.
Megan McCafferty's website: here.

What fictional characters would you bring to the beach?

Tune Tuesday (002)

Tune Tuesday is a lot like "Music Monday" that was started....somewhere. But what I'll do is give you a topic and you'll give me ten songs that fit it.
It could be a "writing playlist", a "feel good playlist"....whatever. Sound good?
Okay, so this week's topic is:

"My Escape Playlist!"
Go through your iTunes, iPod, iWhatever and find the songs that you frequent when you're not in the best of moods. Songs that help you feel, happier. Songs that put you in a different place. Or just songs that are exactly how you feel at that moment. Whether you're mad, sad, stressed. Just a negative mood. And these songs just help you out! You can leave youtube links or links to download the song if you'd like.
(All of the "link" are to a youtube video.)
Make a top ten. I'm doing 15 this week. (I actually have a playlist that is 44 songs strong.)

  1. "Clarity" by: John Mayer - link
  2. "Believe in Me" by: Demi Lovato - link (must listen, this is my go to song)
  3. "Get out of this Town" by: Carrie Underwood - link
  4. "Going Through Changes" by: Army of Me - link (hate the video, love the song)
  5. "Can't Be Tamed" by: Miley Cyrus - link
  6. "Full Moon" by: The Black Ghosts - link (this music video sucks, but I love the song)
  7. "Everyday is Exactly the Same" by: Nine Inch Nails - link
  8. "Let it Go" by: Blue October - link
  9. "The High Road" by: JoJo - link (not music video or live)
  10. "Home is Where the Heart is" by: Lady Antebellum - link
  11. "I Won't Apologize" by: Selena Gomez & the Scene - link (not music video or live)
  12. "World of Chances" by: Demi Lovato - link (not music video or live - sadly)
  13. "Gravity" by: John Mayer - link
  14. "Devil Archerist" by: Bethany Joy Galeotti - link (not music video or live)
  15. "Drive" by: Vanessa Hudgens - link (not music video or live)
*all links go to a YouTube video of the song containing either the professional music video or a live version, unless stated other wise.
Enjoy!

(If you don't have any songs you listen to when you're down then just make a top ten "feel good" playlist of songs that just make you smile.)

What's in your playlist?

Random Post, Saturday!

First, I want to welcome all the new followers and say thank you & that I hope all my posts keep you interested and coming back.
Second, because this is the first "Random Post, Saturday" I'm going to tell you a little about it.
•I'll try to post this every Saturday.
•It'll contain something about the blog, books I'm working on, my second blog I co-host - Bury the Castle, or just whatever.
•I will try to make it interactive where I ask questions and create a poll, a form or just have you leave a comment.

So, for today's post:

¡Giveaways!

I had intended to do a giveaway when I reached 50 followers, but that seems to be coming up a little faster than I thought. So I will do one at the end of summer. That means I'll do it on the first day of autumn, September 22nd, 2010! I'm still unsure what book I'd like to giveaway, I don't know if I want to do a Debut Author giveaway or just any other random book. So I'm going to ask you guys which book you would like to win in a giveaway. (It must be released before or on September 21st, 2010.) The top five answers will go in a poll that I will create by next month, August 15th, and I will add my own choice.
If the book you choose is in a series, make sure to let me know.

My blog is not limited to YA titles, thought I do read those more often.
It must be a fiction book in the Adult or Young Adult field.

To see all of the books I have read this year click here. To see all of the books I've ever read (to my knowledge) and their ratings, then click here.

You do not have to choose a book from either list. It is there to help you.
NO mangas or comics!!

I will create a poll and/or form when I get enough answers, and have you vote.

P.S. The more followers I get, the more giveaways I will (try) to give, so spread the word.

I'm on twitter, facebook, and goodreads. (links here or sidebar.)

Have a great weekend!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------
*Now, some of you weirdos out there may not have any "flashback" worthy music in your iTunes library or iPod....soo here's one you can do:
Give me a top ten list of your favorite songs from as far back as possible until the early 2000s say....2005 is your stop point!? Sound fair?

What does your playlist for the week look like?
