Seven Book Cliches That I Am Over!

These are all opinion and are things that personally I have seen/read a few too many times in books. (As of late, mostly in the New Adult genre.)I'm sure you'll agree with a few or all of them. If you have any others you'd like to include, please do!!

  1. "I let go of the breath I didn't realize I was holding."
                          • I just imagine a bunch of blue-faced girls with more stress than someone their age should  have.
                          • How do so many people hold their breath subconsciously!?!?
  2. Bad Boys
                          • I don't think I have to go into too much detail.
                          • Why are girls so into that? A jerk who has slept with half of America and treats you like trash... Winner.
                          • He'll change just for you? Don't hold your breath. (See #1.)
  3. Blue or silver/grey eyes on the guys and brown or green eyes on the girl.
                          • Do people in book-land have to follow some sort of rules about what color eyes they have to have?!
  4. Blonde girls; brunette guys.
                          • I feel like the blonde girls are changing but the guys--for the most part--are still dark haird [blue eyed bad boys that we hold our breath over].
                          • See #3
  5. Bottom lip is bigger than their top lip and it's apparently the worse kind of flaw.
                          •  Why. . . . . . ?
                          • I just don't get who decided that that was a flaw..... and one that needed attention so frequently!
  6. Big secret that could hinder a relationship.
                           • What is with all the big secrets?
                           • And why does it have to decide a relationship status?
                           • Death, past loves, horrible parents, blah blah blah!
  7. Sex solves everything.
                           • Yeah... well... no. Just..... no.

What else are you tired of? I'm sure there are plenty more I'll eventually think of but these are what I could think of now.

Drama of the Week - Fated to Love You [Korean Version]

» Fated to Love You  |  운명처럼 널 사랑해«

I've watched the original Taiwanese version of this drama and absolutely loved it. In fact it's probably my second favorite Taiwanese drama [right after Devil Beside You]. When I read that there would a Korean version, I was both nervous and excited. I feel like Korean dramas just aren't as free as Taiwanese ones... especially in the touchy feely, sexy, lovey dovey parts.

I've watched the first two episodes and I can tell I will like it, but I'm still not sure if I'll love it. I don't feel like the lead male fits the part. [I think that Choi Jin Hyuk would have been better as the lead and not a second character, or Goong Yoo, Lee Dong Wook, So Ji Sub, Cha Seung Won...] Although it could just be his hair. In the original the lead is said to have "curly hair"...(well, it's not) so I guess they were going for that sort of statement.

Either way, I just hope this lives up to the original! Have you started watching? And have you watched the original? (If not, get on it! Watch the original on Dramafever, Viki, Hulu.)

Summary of the drama:
Making a mistake after having way too many drinks can change everything. Lee Gun (Jang Hyuk) is the successor to a large company run by his family. Kim Mi Young (Jang Na Ra) is an average-looking secretary in a law firm who earned the nickname “Post-It” for her inability to say no to her colleagues who dump work on her. When the two cross paths one night after having too much to drink, they end up having a one-night stand. When Mi Young finds out afterwards that she is pregnant, what will become of them? And will Nam Se Ra (Wang Ji Won) and Daniel (Choi Jin Hyuk) just stand by and let Gun and Mi Young deal with the situation in their own way? “Fated to Love You (Korean Version)” is a 2014 South Korean drama series that is a remake of the popular 2008 Taiwanese drama by the same title.

This drama is posted every Wednesday and Thursday.

March 2014 in Music!

If it weren't for music, I couldn't get a lot of things accomplished. Including life. I love music. And because of that, my favorites are constantly changing. Here are the top 25 played songs that I played during March 2014! In brackets are the number of times listened. This only included my iPod and not the amount of times I listened on my phone or CD. After this post I'll reset the plays on my iPod and start over for April.
To listen to the songs & fall in love with them too, simply click the song title!

25. “내가누구(feat. Yubin) by Sunmi [10]

I've been loving 2NE1's recent album, CRUSH, (honestly, it should be called a mini album). I didn't care much for it upon first listen, but a lot of the songs (mainly the ones in this list) have grown on me tremendously! I may or may not (okay, I totally am) be fangirling over GOT7. Especially JB and Jackon; though they're a few [5] years younger than me.
I cannot stop listening to "Story of My Life" by One Direction and "상사병" by SHINee. They are perfect. They will probably be on my next Top Listens!!
I'm actually surprised that "Ringa Linga" by Taeyang is so high on the list; I didn't think I listened to that song very much. But... I did.

What are your fave recent listens?

Monthly Favorites - JUNE!

1. BOOKS:  The Keep by Veronica Wolff
I have read and loved all three previous books in The Watchers series by Veronica Wolff. When I received the book in the mail with a paper insert saying this was the final book, I prepared myself for an epic finale... but was left with a very very open ending with too many questions for it to be the end. So I turned to Twitter to ask the wonderful Veronica Wolff herself about a next book and she responded with this...[click here]! So yeah.. I'm pretty excited! :) Read my review here.

2. BEAUTY:

  •  Wet n Wild Megalast Polish in "I Need a Refresh-Mint" (I don't think I've ever used a nail polish as frequently as this color! It is the perfect minty color without being too bright. It's subtle and perfect for the summer. I have it on along with the their polish in "On a Trip". The brush is wide and flat which is only a bonus. I hate skinny brushes!
  • Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection Shimmer Palette in "Champagne Glow" (These names are ridiculous. Anyways... Though this claims to be highly pigmented, I find that you really have to get a good amount on before it starts to show. Even with that, I love the slightly rose gold color it gives for a highlight. So it looks like you have color as well as a nice glow.)
  • Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask (I've mentioned before that I have oily very acne prone skin. I have used many cleansers, but have recently learned that salicylic acid doesn't work as well for me as benzoyl peroxide. I loved the premise of this being both a cleanser and mask. I have only used it as a mask once, but a cleanser every morning and love the feeling. Sometimes--for a little extra oil control, I'll use my Olay Fresh Effects Shine Shine Go Away Cleanser with it and I feel my skin is perfectly balanced all day.)
  • Neutrogena Skin Clearing Oil Free Makeup Foundation (This foundation is perfect for me. It doesn't clog my pores, feels light on the skin,is super matte, and because it has salicylic acid in it--it's fighting acne as it's hiding it. Though this specific bottle is a little too orange & dark for my skin, I mix it with my Revlon Nearly Naked foundation to get the perfect color.)
  • Garnier The Radiance Renewer Cleansing Gelée (I bought this on a whim. It was in a pump bottle, had a lot on the cover, but what drew me in was the promise of renewing dull skin and the fact that it had citric extract and hydroxy acid in it. It also says the cleanser is a "cushion-gel technology." Well, I didn't understand it until I used it. It comes out as a gel and becomes a very latherous foam that smells and feels so good. I really feel like it has been helping with the dark spots and bringing...light back to my skin!
  • Formula 10.0.6 Seriously Shine Free Matifying Oil-Free Moisturizer (This stuff smells strongly [but I like it] of aloe and bamboo...because they're both ingredients. I believe that this is the first lotion that has given me moisture and actual kept me matte. I'm a sucker for packaging, and the bold yet simple box is what drew me in. I had never heard of this brand before and bought it on a hunch... plus WalGreens had it marked down to $3! I don't think they'll be selling it anymore and I wish I bought another while they had some left. But I believe that ULTA will be selling it. *crosses fingers* I'm super intrigued to try other products from this brand. The only let down is that there isn't any SPF.
  • Alpha Hydrox Cream (I read that Alpha Hydroxy cream was very good for preventing fine lines and wrinkles as well as helping scarring and dark spots. So, I bought this. I know that it's helping my acne scars heal clearing, but very very old scars and dark spots are taking longer. I will say that this stuff kind of burns when I put it on... but I don't mind. Because anything with AHA makes your skin more sensitive to the sun, you must apply a sunscreen. [I add some when I'm going outside to my Formula 10.0.6 lotion.])
3. DRAMAS:

  • Nail Shop Paris (This drama just finished, so expect a review sometime this week! By far the weirdest drama I've ever seen!!!!!!!)
  • Monstar (Ugh...!! So so good! Joon Hyung from BEAST/B2ST plays the lead, and before this drama I didn't think twice about him in B2ST... now he very well may have become my bias! He is perfect!! *currently airing* Pic to the right of Yong Joon Hyung and Ha Yeon Soo, leads.)
  • Love Around (Yay...!! Another Taiwanese drama to love. Of course, with any drama I love in the beginning... somewhere they lose steam and fall flat, but I'm crossing my fingers with this one. I love the two leads chemistry! That could also because they were in a previous drama together called Love Now....I think I need to watch it for their chemistry alone!)
4. MUSIC:
Soooo that's it. I know it's a lot, but I haven't had enough for one month since March, so I decided to combine them in this month. Next time, I'll narrow it down a bit, but this is that. ^_^"

Monthly Favorites - MARCH!

1. BOOKS: Just One Day by Gayle Forman
I had originally planned on buying this book, but wasn't quite sure if I wanted to... Now I wish I had. It deserves to be on my shelf. It was soo good! I loved the flow of this book, the characters, the writing, the life, the scenery, the timespan, everything! I cannot wait to read Just One Year(which just got a lovely cover) from Willem's POV. If you haven't read this one yet, run to your nearest bookstore & buy it! Read my review here. (Sorry it's such a poor review that doesn't do it justice!)

2. BEAUTY:
  • Olay Fresh Effects Shine Shine Go Away Shine Minimizing Cleanser (Well, that is a mouthful. This has quickly become one of my favorite cleansers... ever. I have very oily and acne prone skin and this with my entire[days worth] routine has helped not only the current acne, but the scars from my previous breakouts. I love that I feel so fresh after using this. When I first started using it, I learned that I was using almost 3x more than I needed for a full, thick and rich lather. And I love the light smell as well!)

3. MUSIC:

  • Justin Timberlake's 20/20 Experience Album [Target Deluxe Edition] (I don't think I need to say more. But I am falling in love with songs I didn't care for when I first listened to this album, like "That Girl" and "Strawberry Bubblegum". So good. And I cannot wait for Part 2 of this album. Read my review here!)
  • JoJo - Can't Handle the Truth (Even though there is absolutely too much talking happening on this , the actual songs are so so good! And this one may be my favorite. This link takes you to the site to download the album free and legally!)

4. FOOD:

I think I already know what will be in my April favorites!! :) What were your March favorites? Anything in these categories, or whatever. Leave a comment! :)

11 March 2013

Monthly Favorites - FEBRUARY!

1. BOOKS: The Edge of Never  by J.A. Redmerski
Another one of those characters that I related to so much! A great story from beginning to end. And the guy was not a bad boy, just tough and sexy and sweet! Even though you're left with a fairly satisfactory ending, there will be a second book. I can't wait to read that!

2. BEAUTY:
  • Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation (I am in the color Nude. Love this foundation. The lightest I've ever used and it doesn't start feeling heavy by the end of the day. I have oily, acne prone skin and though  this is light to medium coverage, it smoothes out and evens out my skin tone!)
  • Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action (I had stopped using this for awhile and couldn't remember why... until I opened the bottle. It smells soo strong like men's cologne. But it works really really well for me, so I'll get over it!)
  • As I Am Coconut CoWash - (This stuff is awesome. It cleaneses your hair without stripping it, but doesn't leave it feeling heavy and limp. In fact, my hair hasn't looked so full and voluminous in a very long time. It's supposed to be for ethnic hair, but my mom [who is white] uses it and loves it as well. You don't need a conditioner with it, but I use one anyways, which only adds to the benefits! You can get it at Sally's.)
  • Sinful Colors Nail Polish in Amethyst - (These colors don't last very long and I'm not a fan of the brush, but I love the variety of colors. Especially this one. I got in purple, but it's kind of awesome that it's called Amethyst since that is my birth stone.... ^_^" The website is a bit misleading, the color is more true to purple.)
3.DRAMAS:
  • Substitute Princess - (A Taiwanese drama that has completely won me over! I highly recommend this one. Not too heavy in the comedy, but not a sad/sappy drama either! Super fun theme song that I fear if I download, I'll never stop listening to it.)
  • Level 7 Civil Servant - (I talked about this one and why I loved it here. Yet another Korean drama I can't pull myself away from!)
4. FOOD:
  • Oranges - (Seriously, I've probably had a billion this past month & I'm still eating them like crazy. I've had 2 today of the Cara Cara variety.)
  • Lipton Iced Tea in Pomegranate Blueberry - (I hate tea unless it's premade and fruit flavored. Love this kind!! It has just enough of the tea taste without being over powering. I hate tea.... hate.)
  • Red Velvet Cupcake Coffee - (My  mom got it for me for my birthday and I've had it almost every morning. I mix it with regular coffee to not use it up and you can still taste it. It's true to name... sooo good!! No link, sorry. I can't find id on the interwebs.)
5. MUSIC:
  • "BizzyTigerYoonMirae" by MFBTY  - (Yo! The beat, the lyrics... TASHA... Just perfect! Add this to your workout playlist!)
  • "Ring Ma Bell' by Two-X - (Fun, girly, a bit too girly at times. But I like it. I LOVE LOVE the colors in this music video, their hair, makeup and outfits. Everything. I enjoyed their debut song "Double Up" which was less girly, something I usually like, but for some reason, I like this one a little better.)
  • "Thrift Shop" by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis - (I'm late on this train. But I hate this song. I love this song. I can't help it. I love the lyrics, the beat and the flow of the rap. So, yeah... I'm addicted. I think Macklemore looks like Jeremy Scott's little brother.)
  • "있다 없으니까 (Gone, Not Around Any Longer)" by SISTAR19 - (I didn't love this song as much as their other, "Ma Boy", but it is still a beautiful song. Though the dance is predictable. I love Hyolin's voice and Bora's subtle/sexy rapping! And can I please have their legs & shoes? Please? 제발?)

I recommend you check any and all of these things out asap!! I'll try to think of all new things for March.
What are your favorites from February?!

04 February 2013

Monthly Favorites - JANUARY!

  1. BOOK:  The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden by Jessica Sorensen
Okay...... This book tugged at the heart, was sexy, and real, and beautiful. There was just the right amount of push and pull. The romance and sexiness was not overshadowed by how dark the book was as well.
The ending though.... That cliffhanger was horrible!!! I cannot wait until the sequel comes out! [Full review to come.]
  2. TV SHOW:  Chicago Fire, Pretty Little Liars, Beauty & The Beast, The Mindy Project, & Go On.
  3. DRAMA: 이웃집 꽃미남 (Flower Boy Next Door) and Substitute Princess.
  4. SONG: "I GOT A BOY" by Girls' Generation
I'm not even that big of a Girls' Generation fan... at all. In fact I find most of their music borderline stupid and annoying. But because I like a lot of the members [9 in total]. I'm always tempted to just listen in hopes that I'll like something. And this is finally that song. There are 3 other songs on the album I like as well!
    "I Like That" by GLAM
I loved their debut song, "Party (XXO)" for the lyrics and how fun it is, and though I liked it, I was glad to see they had a more upbeat, less bubble gum vibe with this song!
  5. APP: Dramafever& Viggle.
I recommend you check any and all of these things out asap!! I'll try to think of all new things for February. What are your favorites from January?!

Get to Know Me! (002)

1. If you could get away with one murder in your lifetime without any legal, social, or emotional repercussions, would you kill someone?
Well... this is a difficult question to answer, only because my answer is yes.

2. Have you ever looked down on someone because you thought your religious views were superior?
I don't have religious views, as I'm atheist. And even though the idea of believing in a "god" seems completely absurd to me, I don't care what your religious views are.

3. Would you rather know everything the universe has to offer but in exchange lose all emotions or remain the way you are now?
No. I'd rather stay ignorant to keep my sanity intact.

4. If you could live and be healthy without sleeping or eating/drinking, which would you cut out of your life?
Sleeping. I would get sooo much done. Work a full time job, go to school... everything I want to do that seems like I need to plan out. I wouldn't have to. :)

5. If you could take on the exact body and form of anyone else on Earth, who would it be?
I wouldn't want to look like them, but there are a couple bodies I envy. I just can't think of anyone at the moment.

6. Would you rather burn or freeze to death?
Freeze, your body shuts down and you don't necessarily feel the pain you would with being burned alive!

7. If it meant it would solve all world hunger, war, disease and bigotry, would you spend the rest of eternity in Hell?
I don't believe in hell, and those are problems that just couldn't be solved that easily. I know the thought is, god would do it, if you sold your soul or whatever, but it's ridiculous to even answer.

8. Was the first crush in your life something you had or something someone had on you?
I don't even know, probably I had the crush.

9. Could you live without having sex ever (again) in exchange for eternal youth?
I.... have been living without sex [lmao], but I don't know. I think that's a bit ridiculous. I think part of life is meeting someone, sharing that experience and hopefully growing old and dying together.

10. Have you ever watched a full length pornographic movie?
Nopes.

11. The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?
Neither. If I'm being honest.

12. If you could have the ability to manipulate matter or energy, which would you choose?
Energy.

13. What was the worst nightmare you ever had?
I don't really have nightmares. I can't really remember any.

14. Would you rather spend one year with your one true love just to never see them again or the rest of your life with second best?
Ugh. I guess I wouldn't know they were second best... right?

15. All the sequels/remakes/adaptations/rip-offs in movies nowadays, good or bad?
Bad. I'm over the unoriginality in TV, movies and books!

16. Would you rather be dirt poor and emotionally fulfilled in life or be rich beyond imagination and emotionally dissatisfied for life?
I guess, poor.

17. Do you have any (secret) feelings of bigotry to any group of people?
Kind of. It's the type of person who tries to hard to satisfy society's views on what's "pretty". Murderers, rapists, kidnappers, bad parents.

18. Would you rather be the only person in the world that can read minds or have everyone else in the world be able to read minds except for your own?
I had to think really hard about this. I hate knowing what people think about me, just because I don't do anything to please them but if I knew what they thought, I think a part of me would then try to. And that would be the worst thing. I would rather not know & everyone else read each others' minds.

19. If everyone in the world would automatically only know one language, which language would you choose?
I love the sound of Spanish. I have been learning Korean. But I don't know. I think English is already a universal language. I'd probably choose something out of left field like Latin.

20. If you were old enough and not in a situation where it would be inappropriate, would you sleep with one of your (past) school teachers/professors?
Nope. None of them were attractive.

21. A world without religion, good, bad, neutral?
Good. I think it's such a huge division in the way people view others. But I could be wrong. I just think if the whole idea of a god (anyone's god) never came to be, there would be something else that would divide us, but it wouldn't seem as ridiculous. [I'm not even making sense to myself.]

22. You can eliminate one of your five senses to substantially strengthen the others, which one and would you do it?
Maybe smell. Even though, technically you need smell to taste, I feel like I would rather have better sight, hearing or even touch.

23. Do looks mean anything to you? Don't lie, could you fall in love with someone you thought was ugly?
Looks do mean a certain amount to me, but if I couldn't look at them without feeling awkward, it'd be hard. But "average" or "ugly" is different to a lot of people. I do get somewhat superficial. but it's only if... it's unbearable. I wouldn't want someone to be with me if they thought I was ugly!

24. Can you understand the mindset and logic used by the opposite spiritual opinion? An atheist understanding the belief in a higher power and vice versa.
No. I don't even understand this question, but I'm just going to say... no.

If you feel like doing any or all of these questions, do. I'd love to read your answers. [I got this from a quiz on tumblr.]
Happy Friday! Have a fun & safe weekend!

5: What does your latest text message from someone else say?
"She hadn't went in either so we went to look at it because the guys told her it was bad." - from my mom. [She was talking about an apartment her friend had to clean where a hoarder had lived. Let me just tell you, the pictures are graphic and disgusting!!]

With clothes. I like it super cold in my room so I can wear tons of layers!

7: Do you have any strange phobias?
Yes! I am afraid of glass. Not so much where I can't touch it, I hate the sound of glass clinking together, the feel of it on my teeth, the sound of glass breaking, too much of it. . . just asdfghjkl;!

15: Do you have a collection of anything?
I like to collect mugs and chopsticks. But I wouldn't say it's a collection... yet.

I actually have this discussion more often than necessary! I do believe in both ghosts and aliens. I'll leave it that.

17: Stick your right arm out; what do you touch first? Do the same with your left arm.
Right arm: My curtains. [and water bottle, almost knocked it over.] --  Left arm: air.

I guess my coffee. I've been sitting in this room so long, I'm no longer unusual to the air.

19: What's the worst place you have ever been to?
My mind? Kidding. Definitely my grandma's funeral. No explanation needed.

20: Do you believe in luck?
Yes. But more so; practice.

21: What's the weather like right now?
Bright and sunny, but freezing. 33°F

22: What time is it?
10:33am [03 Jan]

23. What was the last book you read?
The last book I finished was Down to You by M. Leighton. Currently reading Vessel by Sarah Beth Durst.

24: Do you like the smell of gasoline?
I used to. Now, I don't necessarily like it, but it doesn't really bother me unless it's prolonged periods of time. [Say when your mom gets it on her jacket and we're in the car for about 3 more hours. Yeah, headache.]

25: Do you have any nicknames?
Niecey. About it. However, when my 1 year old nephew tries to say it, it sounds like "jesus." lol.

26: What was the last film you saw?
Finding Nemo. And I may or may not be able to quote the entire movie while I'm watching or not...

27: What's the worst injury you've ever had?
A sprained ankle. Couldn't walk on it for about a month. Then a year later I sprain the other one but that only hurt for about a week. My left one[worst one] occasionally will start hurting, especially when I do plyometrics or just intense cardio.

28: Do you have any obsessions right now?
Uhm, Kpop... if that weren't obvious. Music in general. Asian dramas, TV shows. DIY. Pinterest. Instagram.  Ruzzle [itsShanisej]. Candy Crush. Anipang.

28: What's your sexual orientation?
Straight. But I get the occasional girl crush. As shown above in my "celeb crush" question.

29: Do you tend to hold grudges against people who have done you wrong?
I guess I do. I do end up forgiving, but I never forget!

30: What is your astrological sign?
Aquarius [02 Feb]. I used to not care about this kind of stuff. But I actually find it rather interesting now.

31: Do you save money or spend it?
I do both. It depends on what I'm saving for, or what I want to buy. I'm definitely not a frivolous spender if that's the implication.

32: What's the last thing you purchased?
Food. Yesterday. lol.

33 Love or lust?
I guess I've experienced both. But I wouldn't act on the lust without love. :)

34: In a relationship?
Nope. iTunes has it wrong, I'm the #1 single of the week. . .  every week!

35: Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you?
Yes. One of my stuffed bears has pink in the fur and a pink Supergirl shirt on it. Nothing else. Not a big "pink" person.

36: Are you wearing socks right now?

Yes, I am. One of my favourite pairs. Tootsie Rolls. [I don't even like Tootsie Rolls]

37: Where is your best friend?
At her house chatting with me on G-Talk right now. :)

38: What were you doing last night at 12AM?
Reading. . . And playing Candy Crush. :)

39: What do you think is Satan's last name?
Lacus. [I have this...theory. I'd rather not explain. Unless prompted.]

40: You accidentally eat some radioactive vegetables. They were good, and what's even cooler is that they endow you with the super-power of your choice! What is that power?
The ability to read, write, understand, and speak any language upon choice & situation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I'm so excited for this New Year! I have decided I'd only make a few resolutions that are not only realistic but also a little challenging.
And one of those New Year's resolutions is not only keeping up with this blog, but making it bigger and better. I've completely redone it and have made myself a schedule so there's something to post every day!

And because I want to, I'll share that schedule with you below. . .
(one of the following will be that day. Not all.)

___________________________________________________

Sundays:

  • Weekend Warrior - This will be a feature I do that will show what I did over the weekend, [if I did something worth sharing] such as DIY crafts, day trips, made a new recipe...whatever! :)
Mondays:
  • This Week in Books / In My Mailbox [basically the same thing, but it'll be called the first one.]
  • Author Spotlight
  • Book Review
  • It's Monday, What Are You Reading?
  • Books for Thought
Tuesdays: [I will not post anything book related on this day. At all.]
  • Tune Tuesday
  • Movie, Music, TV Show or Drama review
  • Movie, TV Show, Drama or Music Spotlight
Wednesdays:
  • Waiting On. . .
  • Random Post
  • Food, Craft, etc. . .
Thursdays:
  • Book Review
  • Thursday Question
  • What's New In. . . [This is a feature I'll do to showcase what's new in the world of entertainment, or even me.]
Fridays:
  • Wrap-Up [This will be bi-weekly or once a month. Not every week.]
  • Song, Show, Drama or Movie of the Week
  • Get to Know Me! [I'll find a quiz somewhere online and post it here answering them so you can get to know me a little better!
Saturdays:
  • Smitten on Saturday [This used to be hosted at Another Book Junkie, but she no longer runs her blog so I'm taking over this meme. Every Saturday, you post a book to TV/Movie stud that you are smitten with. It doesn't have to be a hottie, just someone who wins you over one way or another!]
I'm reigining in the New Year by updating this blog, listening to music and watching Rockin' New Year's. I'm not a party girl, I'd rather, stay warm in my room and watch the madness from afar. lol.
How are you bringing in the New Year's? And how was your Christmas [or whatever you celebrate], btw!? Did you eat lots of food, have a great time, get lots of goodies, give lots of goodies?

I'm so excited to be sharing this new journey with the rest of you bloggers!
Lots of love!! Check back later on because I'll be posting my Top 10 Kpop albums of 2012! And next Tuesday will be my Top 20 Songs of 2012! ♥ ^_^~

24 October 2012

To My Grandma, I miss you!

{For you}

You've always stood out.
You've always been a lone bird.
You've finally taken flight.
You're finally in your own world.

You'll always be missed.
No one can replace.
You're kind of the perfect person.
No smile on any face.

A secret tear.
A real dream.
A final breath.
A flowing stream.

There's never been a single moment.
Not a single word.
No one can deny you're gone.
No one can deny you're here.

Forever is a long time.
Forever wasn't long enough.
A beautiful memory.
A beautiful love.

A life taken so long ago.
Still feels like yesterday.
You're finally in your own world.
You've all but flown away.

{This is a poem I wrote in remembrance to my grandmother who passed away from brain cancer in 2005. Today, October 24th, is her birthday. If I could, I'd tell her how much I love and miss her. Appreciate the amazing love she had for me and every one else. The woman who loved her birds, Elvis Presley and old western movies. Played basketball with her grandsons and always made me smile. The woman who will always be in my heart. Forever. And always. I love you, Grandma. I love you dearly.}

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDMA!! I love you!! ♥

  6. Don't Let Me Go by Catherine Ryan Hyde (YA contemp, purchased for kindle)
  7. Reaper [Lightbringer #2] by K.D. McEntire (YA paranormal, ARC review for GCR | Aug. 24th)
A little more:
Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted anything! Well, I'm back with a lot books this week and they're all from this past week! Though I'm currently reading Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick, I need to jump intot he ones that are to be released by the end of July and August ASAP!
I'm quite excited for My Life Next Door so, I may have to push a couple others aside to dive into this one!I should really organize my book shelf (when we move into our new house) and Kindle by release month!!)
I have read the first book in the Lightbringer series (review here) and enjoyed it, so I'm looking forward to Reaper. Though, I won't lie, the covers are not appealing to me in anyway. They're still great books!
So, I really really realllllly need to stop accepting books to review, stay off of netgalley and stay away from the library until these are done!
So much rain here (even though it's still hot) so, I shall face my window and read read read! :)
Hope you have a great week and try to keep cool!

Booking Through Thursday!

Hosted at Booking Through Thursday, you get one question every Thursday and you answer on your blog (or in the comments)!
I haven't done this in a very very long time, but I decided to this week!

Here's this week's question:
Do you consider yourself an extrovert or an introvert?

This is a bit difficult to answer. Though I tend to stay inside, away from others most of the time and I'm okay with that, I do enjoy being around other people.
But to choose one over the other, definitely introvert I get annoyed and frustrated around too many people. I'm claustrophobic and suffer from anxiety attacks when I'm too overwhelmed. So I end up spending most of my time alone. Though I do love being with a few people at a time.
I can stay in my room all day and be perfectly okay with not having human contact. I get criticized for not wanting to be around people, but it's who I am.
I can be shy at times, but that's not what an introvert is. It's just someone who prefers to be alone.
And that's me.

How about you? Are you and extrovert or an introvert?

Meet Me On Monday (018)

Meet Me on Monday is hosted by Never Growing Old and it's a meme for bloggers to get to know each other one Monday at a time.

1. I wish that I had more determination to reach my goal weight body!. I have never been as determined as I am now, but I get frustrated because the results aren't happening fast enough, but I know I'm working hard. I just like to talk down to myself apparently.

2. If you could witness any event past, present or future, what would it be?
The first time "music" was ever considered as such. I want to hug them and thank them for changing the world. Whoever decided to carry a note. *sigh*. It'd be quite amazing!

3. Do you like to cook?
Love to. But sometimes, I'd just rather not. I'm pretty much the "cook" of the house and there are too many people living here. But I enjoy cooking for myself. (lol)!

4. What do you like to do to get exercise?
I love to do my own things that include strength & resistance. But I love Beachbody programs like Turbo Fire, P90X, Brazil Butt Lift, Insanity...etc. And there a couple YouTube gurus I follow who I absolutely adore. I'm not much of an outdoorsy person & I'm very sedentary, so I need to get as much as possible, somehow.

5. How tidy are you?
Quite. I clean everyday. All the time. My room is fairly organized and probably the "tidiest" of them all.

13 February 2012

This Week in Books (001)

  1. Fire Baptized by Kenya Wright (for review on goodchoicereading)
  2. Vampire's Kiss (The Watchers #2) by Veronica Wolff (for review from publisher)
  3. Isle of Night (The Watchers #1) by Veronica Wolff (Barnes & Noble)
  4. The Long Way Home (Homelanders #2) by Andrew Klavan (Barnes & Noble)
  5. Pleasure Unbound (Demonica #1) by Larissa Ione (Barnes & Noble)
A little more:
-After receiving Vampire's Kiss, I decided I must read the first book before I could read this one. I'd never heard of the book but they sounded interesting. :)
-I've read and loved the first book in the Homelanders series, The Last Thing I Remember... full of action. Non-stop action! It's a fantastic break from all of the paranormal and romance that gets to be too much!
-Fire Baptized is a book I'm actually really looking forward to and will link you to my review when I'm done! :)
-Damaris from Good Choice Reading suggested a Larissa Ione book when I was stuck at Barnes & Noble last night and didn't know what else to get. So, I picked up Pleasure Unbound by her. I'm thinking it may be exactly what I was looking for.

"This Week in Books" is hosted by Alea at Pop Culture Junkie. It's similar to In My Mailbox... but, personally... I like this better. So, I'll be doing this every week or so! :)

HELLO 2012

Love the new look? I sure do. Bright and fun. (If the font or anything give you trouble LET ME KNOW. If it's too slow, something isn't loading, wrong link....whatever... tell me please!)

Ahh!! I can't believe it's already 2012! I swear, last year was the fastest year of my life. So much happened.
I contribute the speed of it to my nephew being born. He definitely helped time fly.

And sadly, I didn't read books like I should have. Let's hope this changes this year.
I've set a goal to read 82 books this year. (If anyone knows where a status bar widget is, please let me know!) And I'm reading numero uno right now, The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin. So good so far. I'm just waiting for the "sexy" part everyone keeps talking about. Unless they're talking about the cheeky Noah in general, then yes... very sexy. ;-)

There will be a review for that this week.

I haven't been posting many reviews here because 1. I haven't been reading very much and 2. I've been guest reviewing for Good Choice Reading. So follow them (I'm sure you are) and you can read all of our reviews!

Probably within the next few months, I'll bring on my mom to do reviews of the books that she reads. She loves YA contemporary, but she also has other tastes that I'm not interested in and I'm sure some readers are. :)

I've been a little book buying happy (plus ones I'm sent) so, expect a "What's in My Mailbox" for the entire month of January! I may do it monthly or bi-weekly. Depends on when I recieve books. :)

Memes and features are some of my favorite things about blogging. So I can't wait to start posting those again.

Meet Me on Monday (017)

Meet Me on Monday is hosted by Never Growing Old and it's a meme for bloggers to get to know each other one Monday at a time.

1.Wrapping paper or gift bags?
I'm using both. I wish I could have found plain brown paper, but it was all in bulk size.

2.Real or artificial tree?
Artificial, but next year I would like a mini real tree!

3.When do you put your tree up?
That's my mom's job... she does it as early as the day after Thanksgiving.

4.When do you take your tree down?
Sometimes as early as the day after to as late as after New Year's Eve.

5.Do you like eggnog?
I haven't tried it before, but I would like to.

6.Do you have a nativity scene?

Yes, but it's not up this year. Again, my mom's doing.

7.Favorite Christmas Movie?

I don't know, I just love Christmas Movies. Of course A Christmas Story and ELF. But I love Little Match Girl too. *tears*
The one with Keshia Knight Pulliam & Rue McClanahan.

8.Favorite Christmas cookie?

PFT. All cookies!!

9.Where will you eat Christmas dinner?

We're going to do two Christmas dinners this year. On Christmas day I'll be making a turkey and all the fixings. The next day, with family, we're having lasagna and sides.

10.Angel, bow or star on top of your tree?

Star. Always.

11.Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

How people get so into buying presents, getting best deals. And obnoxious children. Parents spoil their kids WAYYY too much and need to get some iron cajones!

12.Do you like Fruitcake?

Never tried it. Don't want to.

13.What are you most excited about the holidays?

I finally get to buy presents for people!! And it's my nephew's first Christmas! (He's 8 months)

14.Do you open presents Christmas Eve or Christmas Morning?

Christmas morning. I want to start a tradition of opening a movie and pajamas Christmas Eve.

15.Will you still be wrapping presents on Christmas Eve?

If I'm helping my mom, yes. But I will be at my aunt's house as that's part of her Christmas present, helping her out.

17 October 2011

Meet Me on Monday (016)

Meet Me on Monday is hosted by Never Growing Old and it's a meme for bloggers to get to know each other one Monday at a time.

1. The thing that scares me the most is
never seeing someone again after I've left them or they've left me. (ie, gone home) I've only told one other person this. But it's an actual fear that runs through my mind often that sometimes I can have panic attacks. I have a VERY bad habit of over-thinking things!!

2. Do you like nuts in your Chocolate Chip cookies?
NO! Who the heck does that?! Do not mess with a perfectly good cookie!!! GALLETAS ♥

3. If you couldn't change the channel, what tv show would drive you from the room? The Jersey Shore. I do not understand why people watch and "enjoy that show! I watched half an episode and wanted to punch myself. It's horrendous and offensive TV!! (Though that Pauly D kid was kind of adorable when he was on Jay Leno. But that in NO WAY makes me want to watch that show!)

4. Pulp or no pulp in your Orange Juice? I used to absolutely hate pulp, but it's kind of grown on my once I've started drinking aloe juice. It has chunks/bits of aloe in it that you just can't get past (and I like that). Though I still prefer orange juice without pulp. I'm not picky. (THIS is aloe juice. Pomegranate and mango are my faves! I get it from a local Asian store.)

5. Who do you miss the most? My grandmother. I don't know if I could ever miss anyone as much as I miss her. I lost her in 2005 to the dumbest thing ever.... cancer. Brain cancer. She was so vibrant and alive that summer before. It still aggravates me that a cure for cancer hasn't been found. (Especially in late stages.) ANY disease or medical mystery is just plain stupid and makes no sense. (Sigh, I'll stop ranting and raving now. Especially because I want to go in the medical field!)
«--- In the pic, she's the one standing up in the white turtleneck. My great-grandma is holding me and my mom is behind the chair. Four generations. ♥♥
